Businesses Using Instagram Stories to Their Benefit

Instagram has recently released their “Instagram Stories”, a new feature that allows users to post on their “story” throughout the day and the pictures and/or videos they post disappear after 24 hours. Sounds familiar, right? This move has a lot of users criticizing Instagram because of its many similarities to Snapchat. But aside from the criticisms, many businesses and organizations have been taking advantage of this new Instagram feature to reach out to customers and/or fans.

Not only is Instagram more user friendly, but they also have over 300 million  daily active users, while Snapchat only has a little over 150 million active users. So, to businesses, Instagram is more appealing than Snapchat. Although this feature just launched earlier this month, some businesses and organizations have already been using the stories to their full advantage.

Here are some creative examples:

1. Los Angeles Dodgers // @Dodgers
The Los Angeles Dodgers have been actively using the Instagram Stories to provide some "Game Notes." Every game day, they provide the fans some notes before and after game time; these notes include both pictures and videos with some team stats and highlights. This is a great way to inform fans of things they might have missed during the game.

2. Tarte Cosmetics // @Tartecosmetics
The makeup brand Tarte Cosmetics has used Instagram Stories to promote new products, such as a new limited edition of makeup brush sets. This way of introducing new products is great for the customers as they get an inside scoop of what the brand is doing.

3.Whole Foods // @Wholefoods
Whole Foods uses Instagram Stories to provide their customers with weekly deals. This tactic is a great way to get customers to visit the store and make purchases based on these deals.

4. Major League Baseball // @MLB
The MLB provides the fans with baseball events and highlights of the previous day, from a first pitch from an Olympic medalist to game bloopers. This way of showcasing baseball highlights keeps fans entertained and keeps them up-to-date.
